Toddler formula question…?

Alyssa is 9 months old and I got a bunch of formula checks in the mail today, but they are only for toddler formula. Alyssa is mostly breastfed but she has 8oz a day of formula as a supplement. The age range on this toddler formula is 9-24 months, but is it okay to stay with the baby formula until 12 months?

Also, this toddler formula only comes in normal and soy, none of the specialties… Alyssa has lactose-free formula and I drink lactose-free milk. (Soy didn’t work for her) I’m guessing that means that this toddler formula will be pretty useless for her, right?

So when her birthday comes around, do we just stick with nursing and the 8oz bottle becomes 8 oz of lactose-free milk? Or do I get her re-tested at the doctor at the point and try normal milk?

I like the idea of the toddler formula because I worry about her nutrition, and the continued price of formula isn’t a problem, but… it just doesn’t look like it will work. Is there something else you can give toddlers that is more nutritious then milk?

I have twins that are age 2 and were born 8 weeks premature due to preeclampsia. They were 3 lbs 7 oz and 4 lbs 1 oz. They spent a month in the NICU. They had reflux and some lactose issues..ended up on soy but with the reflux there was a lot of vomiting for the first 9 months of their life.

Their pediatrician says they are fine, they are so much smaller than twins their age and younger though.

Plus a lady in our playgroup brought her child to a playdate with the stomach virus. They caught it, as did others and it caused them to loose many months of weight progress.

They are still on Similac Soy Go and Grow toddler flrmula. So they get that nutrition as well as eating regular healthy meals and snacks daily..I just feel like they should weigh a lot more.

They won’t drink pediasure or any similar product. They refuse regular soy milk or vanilla flavored soy milk.

What can I give them to put on some healthy weight?

Frozen foods from Whole Foods for your toddler….?

Does anyone here buy frozen foods for their toddler from Whole Foods? I’m fairly nutrition conscious but would like to have quick easy meals like chicken nuggets for my kiddo. I don’t shop at Whole Foods on a regular basis so if I go out of my way to shop there, I want to know that there will be a good selection of foods I can by my toddler. Any suggestions?
I don’t currently feed my kiddo chicken nuggets because every brand I’ve seen has been unhealthy-that’s why i’m interested in a brand I may find at Whole Foods- And no I’m not poisioning my child. She eats all whole grain, unprocessed foods, tons of fresh fruit and veggies, an a lot of lean protein such as chicken and fish. I’m looking for good, healthy alternatives. And as Smiley is mentioning below- I don’t abuse my child in any way by feeding her bad food. The whole point of my question is to ensure she is eating good, healthy food.

is my 11 month old getting enough nutrition?

e few months ago when my son was eating baby food, he ate anything you gave him. i was very dilligent about giving him a varioty of fruits and veggies and meats. no sugar or hardly any salt. now that he’s eating toddler food fron gerber and "grown up food" off our plates, he won’t come near a veggitable unless it’s potato. he still drinks about 16 ounces of formula a day, so i know he’s getting nutrition from that, but how do i get him to eat more than breads, meats, and mashed "taters", and applesauce?

What do you cook your toddler for supper?

I have two toddlers and the only real supper they like is chicken nuggets or pasta. They get plenty of nutrition throughout the day with sandwiches, smoothies, eggs, yogurt, some babyfood veggies and things like that…but as far as a hot meal for dinner, only two meals are enjoyed by them. Any other ideas?

My child is 19-months and has difficulty swallowing textured and solid foods. He either gags/vomits, spits out, or refuses altogether. He drinks Pediasure for nutrition/calories and some pureed foods (though he’s losing interest in these.)My understanding is this could be behavioral, poor oral motor skills, texture sensitivity or all of these. (we’ve ruled out most medical concerns like reflux). I’m looking for a treatment method that works. What should be done? Who are the experts to help us? How long will it take for my child to eat normally? He also has a hypersensitive gag reflex. In addition to its role with eating difficulties, he also gags and vomits from crying. He cries, coughs/gags and then vomits (within seconds!). This affects sleeping (if left in crib without being fully asleep he vomits) as well as with temper tantrums — just about anytime he’s very upset. We try to avoid these scenarios, but it’s impossible. How do we address this gag reflex problem?
