I’m going to start potty training my little one she’s almost three. I tried in the past but she’s old enough now. I wanted to ask is it better using training diapers or just buying plastic or regular underwear? I heard its a waste to buy training diapers since they soak all the urine and they don’t do much help. Regular underwear is risky because of the mess, but I’m a stay at home mom we’re always home. Any parents out there that mastered in training their kids your advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

When she does it, it’s usually during the first stage of her sleep. We are learning to control it but what we can’t seem to control is the horrible odor that she has during the day/night on her underwear. It’s often very noticeable. What can I do?!

My daughter is 23 months old, and doing great at potty training. She is in underwear all day, and hardly ever has an accident. We are planning on going to a local festival this coming weekend, and the only bathrooms available will be porta pottys. While I want my daughter to continue wearing underwear, I am VERY apprehensive about her using a porta potty (for the obvious reasons). Are there any parents out there who have any suggestions as to what to do? Is there anything you can buy to put on the portapotty seat so shes not exposed to god-knows-what on there while holding herself up? Thanks!

My son is 2 and we’re trying to potty train him. He shows all the signs of being ready (not like being dirty, asks for diaper changes, wants to wear his underwear, bladder control, etc). However, no matter how badly he has to go, he won’t pee! We are putting him in underwear and watching him and asking him if he needs to go. He’ll have a ton to drink and after 45 minutes or an hour does the "pee pee dance" and we put him on his potty and he just holds it in! So, he’ll sit for a little bit and i’ll get him off and we’ll play or read and then try again. On the potty he sits there in agony trying to hold it and only by accident will squirt some. He’ll do this for hours (literally). Only once has he actually peed on purpose (after a looooong time of holding it). We go through this over and over until he is bent out of shape and I am exhausted. I don’t know what to do. As soon as i put on a diaper after a few hours of trying to get him to go potty, he soaks the diaper immediately. I just don’t get why he’s so afraid. He sees me and his daddy go all the time, he has a potty book, he knows all about it! He’s just scared to do it and I don’t know what to do to get him to just let go and pee. I’ve tried books, toys, treats, having the water running, dead silence, everything to try to get him to go, but no luck. We’ve been going through this for like 3 days now and it’s the same thing every day. I’m exhausted by the whole process. What do i do???

I think my son (2 yrs) is ready to potty train. I’m off work this coming Friday and I hope to start working with him this weekend.
Did a potty training chart help your toddler learn to go in the potty? Which chart do you recommend?
Also, did you use pull ups, training pants or just put them in underwear?
Does this sound about right – Taking them to the potty every 15-20 minutes until they actually go and then waiting about 45 minutes to an hour and then go again?
I’m new at this – he’s my only child and all my friends have girls.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
We are using a potty seat for the regular potty… He doesn’t like the little potty chairs

Our son will be 3 in Dec. He will sit and stand at the potty, just not go. He loves his underwear and we tried to let him have accidents this weekend, thinking he won’t like being wet & go in the potty – but this did not happen. Now it seems he’s holding it in …We’ve waited to start because we recently moved & he was having a problem with constipation. Everything else with this child has been taking things away cold turkey (bottle, pacifier) so we thought the diaper would need to be too. But if he won’t go in the potty, what else can you do? Wait??

My son is almost 2 1/2 he’s still not talking yet. He’s in speech therapy. I really want to potty train him, I can tell he’s sick of diapers, but I don’t know how. I’ve been putting him in underwear most of the day so he can feel when he’s wet, but if he’s in the middle of playing he doesn’t seem to care if he wets himself. He doesn’t even really seem to notice. We have a sticker chart, he gets a little sticker if he sits on the potty and a big sticker if he goes, and I get really excited when he acually goes, so he knows it’s a good thing. He’s gotten 2 big stickers and about 30 little stickers so far. Has any one else potty trained a toddler with a speech delay?

My son is two and a half years old and he has started to figure out the potty thing. He is starting to take his diaper off and sit on the potty and actually use it. So I went and bought him some underwear so that he can be a big boy but he refuses to wear them. He only wants to wear the diapers he is still using the potty but wants to be in the diapers. So I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do, To get him to wear the underwear or should I just let him wear the diapers and no I have not tried pull ups just regular diapers.
My son is pretty much potty trained he just wont wear underwear.
I cant get rid of the diapers because he has a younger brother that is still in diapers.
We have not bought our son a potty chair yet. He takes his diaper off and uses the regular toilet. So I went and let him pick out underwear. But he wont wear them as soon as he is done using the toilet he wants his diaper back on.
