How did you approach outtings with a barely potty-trained toddler?
Did you put him/her in pull-ups? Have them sit on a towel in the car seat? Do nothing different? What?
Thanks!

At what age is the apporpriate time to get a toddler -15 months old- potty trained?
When is it really late to do it?
Any hints on how to get started with it?
Is there any really good way for it?
Should I start buying her pull ups? She’s to skinny for underwears (she can still fit into pants size 6-9).
she gets butt naked by herself at night and when it’s time to take a shower. She is smart enough to do the things that he 3yr old cousin does.
Hey, my daughter is 20 months old, with in the last couple weeks she has turned from always saying no if I ask her if she pooped or needs her diaper changed, to actually telling the truth. She is also starting to tell me before she poops that she is going to. I have bought her a potty but honestly, not really sure how to start this whole thing. I have started letting her come with me to the bathroom and trying to explain what I am doing. I also bought some pull ups which I have not opened or used, a lot of people say not to bother with them. I am also wondering how/when to start the potty training at night. She is still in a crib (with a crib tent) because she started being able to climb out before she was even 1. (she has done pretty much everything incredibly early) If I am going to try to start potty training should I convert her to a toddler bed at the same time, convert first, not worry about it yet? Basically any advice tips etc on potty training and or toddler bed "training" would be appreciated!
When she woke up from her nap I set her on the potty and she peed! She also tried really hard to go poopoo too!
my son is great at going potty at home, most the time. not so much at night. he wears pull ups at night and whenever i leave the house with him. im worried he is going to wet his car seat and make a huge mess. he wet through his pull ups once at walmart and boy that was embarrasing! how can i get him to learn to *hold it in* until we get to a potty? how do you help them not pee in the car seat etc and not have to wear pull ups?
lol ok. my son thinks its funny when he wets himself. i tell him its a no no. a bad thing. he laughs so hard. its like he doesnt care. he does usually tell me at home when he has to go. but waits til after he has gone when we are in public.
I think my son (2 yrs) is ready to potty train. I’m off work this coming Friday and I hope to start working with him this weekend.
Did a potty training chart help your toddler learn to go in the potty? Which chart do you recommend?
Also, did you use pull ups, training pants or just put them in underwear?
Does this sound about right – Taking them to the potty every 15-20 minutes until they actually go and then waiting about 45 minutes to an hour and then go again?
I’m new at this – he’s my only child and all my friends have girls.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
We are using a potty seat for the regular potty… He doesn’t like the little potty chairs
I buy Pull-ups, but they can get expensive. We have tried everything I can think of. Medicine, alarms, waking him up several times per night, no drinking after 7pm, etc. And he still seems to wet just about every night. Thanks for the advice!
My son is two and a half years old and he has started to figure out the potty thing. He is starting to take his diaper off and sit on the potty and actually use it. So I went and bought him some underwear so that he can be a big boy but he refuses to wear them. He only wants to wear the diapers he is still using the potty but wants to be in the diapers. So I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do, To get him to wear the underwear or should I just let him wear the diapers and no I have not tried pull ups just regular diapers.
My son is pretty much potty trained he just wont wear underwear.
I cant get rid of the diapers because he has a younger brother that is still in diapers.
We have not bought our son a potty chair yet. He takes his diaper off and uses the regular toilet. So I went and let him pick out underwear. But he wont wear them as soon as he is done using the toilet he wants his diaper back on.
My son is 3.5 years old and is making zero progress with potty training. My husband and I have done everything to aid him in this milestone. Rewards, stickers, taking away pull ups, asking every hour, then every 30 minutes, using charts, videos, books, everything! I have tried laying off for a while to give him a break, but that hasn’t worked either. We are confident that he is ready because he sleeps through naps and nightime without wetting. Additionally, whenever he goes to the bathroom, he always says "I go potty" after he does it on himself. Needless to say we are at our complete wits end with the entire process. My patience is spent, and I have run out of ideas. I’ve consulted friends and family with children for advice, read books, surfed the net, always coming up with the same methods we’ve exhausted. This child is very bright otherwise – thus increasing my frustration that he can’t get this. While my husband isn’t as worried as I am, we both are about to loose it. HELP!!!!
My son is 9 has a genetic bedwetting issue. He wears pull-ups at night. He has been afraid of sleepovers in the past but now wants to go. Should I let him?
I have been told that going straight from diapers to underwear for potty training is the best way because with the pull-ups it confuses the child and it is too similar to diapers. Have anyone experienced this? Any suggestions are helpful.
Thanks everyone for your responses! i think i will go with the underwear cus the pull-ups are so not working.
