Children are naturally curious. They like to discover new things and explore new places even if they are initially limited to the walls of a house. For them, nothing is better than discovering a brightly colored container of something inside the cabinet or crawling into a dark space under the bed.

Because of their intense curiosity, you have to make your residence safe. After all, you wouldn’t want them to fall down the stairs just because they find it interesting, would you? Here are a few safety tips.

1. If your house has a swimming pool, ensure that you install a barricade around the pool area. There are many types of fencing systems available, but glass pool fencing is highly recommended. Aside from keeping your children away from the pool area, you can see through the transparent panels. Thus, you can monitor your children frolicking in the pool while preparing meals.

2. Shorten or get rid of any cord or wire that could get around a kid’s neck. Examples of such cords are electric wires and drape or curtain cords. Tie up the cord so they are less than 6 inches long. Keep them out of your kids’ reach.

3. Medicines, vitamins, cleaning supplies, and other substances must be put inside locked cabinets. Take note that children are unable to tell the difference between candy and medicine.

4. Children can drown in just a few inches of water. Thus, do not leave your child alone in the bathtub, not even for a minute. If you need to attend to something such as answering the phone, wrap a towel around your child and take him with you.

5. It is a good idea to affix window guards to prevent your kids from crawling through windows. Avoid placing chairs and other furniture near the window; your children can utilize them as steps to reach the window.

6. If your home has a mezzanine or a second floor, install gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. Contemporary glass balustrading Perth is preferable to old-style bar grates since there are no big openings in the glass panels where a child can crawl through or get trapped between the bars.
